Internal Institutional Review – SVIAS
The Internal Institutional Review (IIR) was conducted at the Swamy Vipulananda Institute of Aesthetic Studies (SVIAS), Eastern University, Sri Lanka, on 21st –22nd of December, 2024, as a mock review in preparation for the UGC Institutional Review.
Review Team:
- Prof. T. Velnampy – Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka
- N. Rajeshwaran – Dean, Faculty of Commerce & Management, Eastern University, Sri Lanka
- T. Mathiventhan – Dean, Faculty of Technology, Eastern University, Sri Lanka
During the visit, the team conducted meetings with the Director, Head of Departments, Academics, Administrative, Student Counsellors, Academic Supportive Staff, Non-Academic Staff, Student Representatives, Coordinators of the Centres & Units. In addition, the team observed facilities such as Library, Hostels, Centres / Units, Lecture halls, Computer Labs, Medical Centre, Language Learning Zone, Sports Unit, Auditorium, Gallery, and Canteen. The SER team facilitated document reviews, with Dr. P. Elango, Director of the Centre for Quality Assurance, also participated in the process.
Workshop on Student Engagement in Quality Assurance
A workshop on Student Engagement in Quality Assurance was held on 15th August 2025 from 2.00
p.m. to 4.00 p.m. at the IT Lab, SVIAS. The resource person for the session was Dr. T. Geretharan,
Director, Center for Student Support Service and Welfare, Eastern University, Sri Lanka. The
workshop aimed to enhance students’ understanding of the importance of their active
participation in quality assurance processes and contribute to institutional development.







Workshop on Guidelines Related to Conducting Practical Examinations
A workshop on Guidelines Related to Conducting Practical Examinations was held on 15th August
2025 at the Boardroom. The resource person was Prof. P. Elango, Director, Centre for Quality
Assurance, SVIAS. The session commenced at 2.00 p.m. and was attended by the Director and
staff members of SVIAS. The workshop aimed to provide guidance and best practices for
effectively conducting practical examinations, ensuring quality, consistency, and standardization
in the evaluation process.
